the journey of a Cushing’s survivor

I’m 32 - how can that be?

Today I’m celebrating my 32nd birthday & going out to dinner with my family and bestest (is that even a word?) friend in the whole world. I think this is going to be a good year…

Hi My name is Rachael and Im also 32 years old. I was diagnosed with cushings syndrome in 2oo1 caused through a malignant adrenal tumor. Ive since gone on to have two beautiful daughters and am back to a Uk size 8! Time is a great healer but my stretch marks, large scar and yearly hospital visits are a constant reminder of the emotional trauma that is cushings. As it is a rare illness many people do not understand how huge the effects are. Reading your blog reminds me so much of my own journey, I wish you all the best and a full and healthy life free of cushings x x

* Rachel - it’s great to hear from someone who’s farther along in recovery & doing well. You’re right, time is a great healer - but there will always be physical reminders of the trauma our bodies went through. Glad to hear you’re doing well!
